To ensure compliance and optimal performance,
please follow these guidelines:
1. Verify Certification
Look for the OK compost HOME logo on the packaging. This certifies the bag is designed to break down in a backyard compost bin, unlike industrial-only products.
2. Proper Disposal is Key
For Home Composting: Place the bag with organic waste in your home compost bin. It will break down within 12 months.
For Municipal Waste: Dispose of it in the organic waste bin (green bin) for industrial composting.
Warning: Do NOT place in plastic recycling bins. Compostable bags are not recyclable and will contaminate the recycling stream.
3. Storage & Handling
Shelf Life: Use within 12 months of purchase for best performance.
Environment: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent premature degradation.
Loading: Don't wrap sharp or excessively wet items to prevent punctures and leaks.

Q: Do Compostable Garbage Bags Have A Shelf Life?
Q: Are Biodegradable Garbage Bags toxic?
Biodegradable bags are made from natural materials which means that they are safer for users.
Q: When are Compostable Bags NOT suitable?
A: While our OK compost HOME & INDUSTRIAL certified bags are ideal for organic waste, they are not suitable for the following scenarios:
1. Plastic Recycling Streams
Do NOT put them in the plastic recycling bin.
Compostable bags are not recyclable. Placing them in the recycling bin will contaminate the entire batch of recycled plastic, causing issues for recycling facilities.
2. Hazardous Waste
Not recommended for hazardous chemicals, batteries, or construction debris.
These bags are designed for organic waste (food scraps, yard waste). Heavy or sharp inert waste may puncture the bag.
3. Long-Term Storage (>12 months)
Not suitable for long-term archiving of items.
As a natural product, these bags have a shelf life of approximately 12 months. They are designed to break down, not to last forever like traditional plastics.
4. Note on Landfills:
Like all plastics, if sent to a landfill (anaerobic environment), decomposition is severely inhibited. To realize the environmental benefits, please compost them.
