Compostable T-shirt bags are commonly used in malls, supermarkets, restaurants and farmers markets. It is a truly compostable and biodegradable bag. The main material of this bag is PBAT. PBAT was prepared from 1, 4-butanediol (BDO), adipic acid (AA), terephthalic acid (PTA) or diol terephthalate (DMT) by direct esterification or transesterification.PBAT is a kind of semi-crystalline polymer. Usually the crystallization temperature is around 110℃. The melting point is about 130℃. The density is between 1.18g/ mL and 1.3g/ mL. The crystallinity of PBAT is about 30%. Shore hardness is above 85 . PBAT materials are not only biodegradable but also compostable, so using PBAT can combat white pollution.
Degradation process
Under certain environment conditions , its chemical structure changes obviously. The molecular chain of biodegradable plastic bags can be biodegraded by microorganisms in the garbage disposal system or the natural environment, and eventually bacome carbon dioxide and water, entering the biological combined cycle proces, which is completely absorbed by the environment without leaving any polymer.
